D B U and Needonomics Foundation Join Hands to Globalize Centre for South Asian Studies
Mandi Gobindgarh, 10 August: In a pioneering move to integrate Indian ethical philosophy into global academic discourse, Desh Bhagat University (DBU) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Prof. M.M. Goel Needonomics Foundation. The partnership will strengthen the Centre for South Asian Studies at DBU, with a shared vision of promoting value-based research, ethical governance, and sustainable development through the principles of “Needonomics”—an alternative to consumer-driven “Greedonomics” conceptualized by Prof. M.M. Goel.
The collaboration will embed the ethos of Needonomics into academic programming, including research projects, scholarly dialogues, curriculum development, and conferences. The joint initiatives aim to cultivate a framework for ethical, need-based living and decision-making in contemporary socio-economic structures.
Prof. Amarjeet Singh, Pro Vice-Chancellor of DBU, signed the MoU and emphasized its strategic importance in enriching the Centre’s interdisciplinary scope and global relevance.
Prof. M.M. Goel expressed optimism that this partnership would become the unique selling proposition (USP) of DBU, offering an ethical economic model that resonates deeply in today’s world of environmental and financial uncertainty.
Chancellor Dr. Zora Singh and Dr Tajinder Kaur Pro-Chancellor of DBU hailed the MoU as a significant milestone in DBU’s mission to reshape socio-economic narratives and elevate the Centre for South Asian Studies to international prominence.
Dr. Renu Sharma, coordinator of the initiative, called the collaboration a timely confluence of ethical economics and academic excellence, with the potential to deliver real-world solutions for contemporary global challenges.
