Desh Bhagat University Marks World Mental Health Day 2025 with Week-Long Awareness Drive

Mandi Gobindgarh,13 October: The Department of Clinical Psychology, under the Faculty of Education, Desh Bhagat University, celebrated World Mental Health Day 2025 with great enthusiasm under the Educere Club, based on the theme “Access to Services – Mental Health in Catastrophes and Emergencies.”

The week-long celebration commenced with “Shubhaarambh”, inaugurating the Mental Health Awareness Week. Hon’ble Chancellor Dr. Zora Singh and Pro-Chancellor Dr. Tejinder Kaur lauded the department’s efforts and highlighted the importance of compassion and awareness toward mental health.

Vice-Chancellor Dr. Harsh Sadawarti announced the establishment of the Centre of Psychology and Behavioural Science, a new initiative for research, training, and outreach. Various departments including Ayurveda, Nursing, Engineering, Physiotherapy, and Business and Management actively participated through seminars, Nukkad Nataks, and awareness drives promoting self-care and stress management.

The grand finale featured cultural performances, expert talks, and mental health activities led by Clinical Psychologists Ms. Shruti, Ms. Arzoo, and Ms. Hasrat Kaur Sran.

Chancellor Dr. Zora Singh addressed the gathering, highlighting the crucial need to understand, acknowledge, and prioritize mental well-being.

The event concluded with a Vote of Thanks delivered by Dr. Precious (Director), who appreciated the collective efforts of students and faculty in fostering emotional wellness and reaffirmed the university’s commitment to promoting mental health as a universal human right.
