– Deputy Commissioner reviews development works in the district
Deputy Commissioner Patiala Dr. Himanshu Aggarwal reviewed the progress of various development works in the district and directed officials to ensure that the benefits of government welfare schemes and programmes reach every eligible citizen without any laxity. Punjab Development Commission Member Anurag Kundu, Mayor of Municipal Corporation Kundan Gogia and other officials were also present. He directed that the progress of all development works in the district be updated daily on the DC Dashboard.
Reviewing the services of Aam Aadmi Clinics, the Deputy Commissioner stressed that all Medical Officers must ensure that every person visiting the clinics undergoes a annual health check-up. He also directed that health screening of pregnant women and children be further strengthened. The Civil Surgeon was instructed to focus on achieving zero maternal deaths during childbirth by ensuring that all mandatory tests of pregnant women are conducted in a timely manner. Emphasis was also laid on issuing Health Cards to all eligible families so that they can avail the benefits of the Mukhya Mantri Sehat Yojna.
The Deputy Commissioner said that ensuring an annual health check-up for every citizen would help in the early detection and prevention of diseases. Reviewing the Education Department, he directed the District Education Officer to encourage students and their parents during Parent-Teacher Meetings to undergo annual health check-ups at the nearest Aam Aadmi Clinic.
While reviewing the Mawan Dhiyan Satkar Yojana, he directed the District Programme Officer to ensure that no eligible woman is deprived of the scheme’s benefits. Municipal Corporation officials were instructed to expedite desilting of sewerage during the monsoon season and closely monitor waterlogging-prone areas to ensure prompt drainage of rainwater. He also directed that drinking water samples from all schools in the city be tested regularly.
Reviewing rural development works, Dr. Aggarwal directed officials to ensure the cleaning of village ponds and the supply of safe drinking water in rural areas. Reviewing welfare schemes for building and construction workers under the Labour Department, he instructed officials to ensure registration of all eligible construction workers so that no labourer in the district is deprived of government welfare schemes. He said that under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, the Punjab Government has simplified the registration process and waived the registration fee for the next six months.
Directions were also issued to ensure chlorination of tubewells, provision of standby double motors and regular water sampling for drinking water supply in all Municipal Councils. Among those present at the meeting were ADCs Damanjit Singh Mann and Navreet Kaur Sekhon, Municipal Commissioner Pooja Syal Grewal, Additional Commissioner Simranpreet Kaur, Civil Surgeon Dr. Shelly Jetly and officers from various departments.
