Patiala News:Health Department Holds Review Meeting with Blood Bank In-charges

A review meeting with the in-charges of all blood banks in the district was held at the Civil Surgeon’s Office under the leadership of Civil Surgeon Dr. Shaily Jaitly and Medical Superintendent Dr. Vikas Goyal. During the meeting, various efforts being undertaken to ensure the safe and timely availability of blood in the district were reviewed.

Civil Surgeon Dr. Shaily Jaitly directed all blood banks to ensure complete compliance with licensing standards and the guidelines issued by the National Blood Transfusion Council. She stressed the need to ensure proper management of blood and blood components, quality control, and proper maintenance of records.

The meeting also discussed ways to further promote voluntary blood donation, organize blood donation camps in a planned manner, strengthen coordination to prevent shortages of blood, and ensure the timely availability of blood to patients as per their requirements. In addition, the in-charges were directed to ensure inspection of their respective blood banks as per the prescribed checklist. Keeping the rainy season in view, plans were also discussed to meet the increased requirement of blood.

All blood bank in-charges were requested to share complete information with the Office of the Civil Surgeon in the prescribed forms whenever the process of organizing a blood donation camp is initiated.

District Assistant Health Officer-cum-Nodal Officer Dr. Inderpreet Randhawa directed all blood bank in-charges to regularly update information regarding blood availability and ensure immediate coordination and action during any emergency so that no patient faces difficulties due to a shortage of blood.

District Immunization Officer Dr. Kushaldeep Gill, SMO Kauli Dr. Gurpreet Nagra, IMA General Secretary Dr. Kiranjot Kaur, Zonal Licensing Authority Dr. Navjot Kaur, all blood bank in-charges of the district, and the Mass Media Wing team were also present on the occasion.
