-Under the second phase of Census-2027, the population census will be conducted from December 1 to January 4, 2027.
As per the notification of the Government of India, the second phase (Population Enumeration) of Census-2027 in Punjab will be conducted from 1st December 2026 to 4th January 2027 and during this phase, the work of ‘Self Enumeration’ will be done from 16th November to 30th November 2026. With the aim of ensuring smooth and effective implementation of the second phase (Population Enumeration) of Census-2027, a two-day training program was organized here at the Municipal Corporation for District/Charge level officers.
The main objective of this training program was to strengthen the capacity of the officers regarding the necessary preparation, work procedures and data accuracy for the census work. The census work in Patiala district is being done under the supervision of Deputy Commissioner-cum-Principal Census Officer Dr. Himanshu Agarwal, Commissioner Municipal Corporation, Pooja Sial Grewal. While Additional Deputy Commissioner (Rural Development)-cum-District Census Officer Damanjit Singh Mann has been posted as Census Nodal Officer in Patiala district.
A 2-day training on Phase II of Census-2027 in Patiala district was provided to 15 charge officers (6 tehsils, 5 Nagar Kaushals and 4 Nagar Panchayats) and 3 charge officers of Municipal Corporation, Patiala by a team of officers deployed by the Census Department, Punjab, Chandigarh, including Sensation Advisor Karamjit Singh and District Coordinator Aman Kumar.
During this training program, detailed information, practical demos and exercises were conducted on various important topics related to the second phase of Census-2027.
During the training, the second phase of Census-2027: Information about the working procedure and the role and responsibilities of administrative officers and clerks. Summary House List and Charge Register: The process of preparing the summary house list and charge register through CMMS. Concepts and definitions related to census: Information about the persons to be enumerated and question numbers 1 to 40, with special emphasis on monitoring data quality indicators. Self Enumeration Portal: Information about the role of the Self Enumeration Portal and administrative officers, Media and Publicity Activities: Awareness and publicity activities related to population census including printing, logistics and management of kit material: Planning and smooth management of required census material. Training Structure and Guidelines: Detailed information was given about the training structure and guidelines for the second phase.
Deputy Commissioner-cum-Principal Census Officer, Dr. Himanshu Agarwal, Additional Deputy Commissioner (RD)-cum-District Census Officer, Damanjit Singh Mann and Joint Commissioner Municipal Corporation Manreet Rana appealed to all the citizens of the district to fully cooperate in this work of census being conducted by the Government of India. During this training, all the staff including the charge officer, Deputy Economic and Statistical Advisor Jaswinder Kaur, Census Cell Team Narinder Kumar Accounting Clerk, Bikramjit Singh Investigator, Kulinderjit Singh, and Census Master Trainers participated.
