Patiala News:Punjabi singers spread the colors of Sufi and cultural singing in the Doon Valley
Yakub and Rangle Sardars made the musical evening of the Language Department Punjab memorable
The Department of Languages, Punjab organized a musical evening at S. Bhagwan Singh University, Balwala, Dehradun as part of the series of literary and cultural events ‘Outside Punjab’. During which the renowned Sufi singer Yakub and the team of cultural singers Rangle Sardars made the event memorable. During the event, the Cultural Secretary of Uttarakhand, Mr. Jugal Kishore Pant, arrived as the chief guest. Gaurav Bharatiya Shiksha Sansthan’s Governing Council Member Prof. A.S. Brar, Chairman of the institution S.P. Singh and President Prof. Gauravjit Singh attended as special guests. Apart from the officers, employees and students of the university, the Punjabi community of Dehradun also participated in the event in large numbers. The Vice Chancellor of the host university, Dr. J. Kumar, welcomed the guests.
The musical evening began with Sufi singer Yakub, who arrived from Amritsar, singing songs like ‘Aavo Ni Sayo Main Var Paya..’, ‘Lambi Judai’, ‘Katya Karu Teri Run’, ‘Dil Nahi Lag Mera..’, ‘Sajjana Da Sahara A..’, ‘Kawaan Sun Kawan..’, etc. in his melodious voice, making the audience of all sections of the event go wild. Yakub paused his performance with the song ‘Dama-Dam Mast Qalandar’ on the request of the audience. Then the ‘Rangle Sardar’ team, led by Azam Khan, took the stage and along with the other singers in the team, Sabar Singh Khokhar, Jaskaran Gill and Maninder Brar, started with their popular song ‘Kaun Kise Da Karda A..’. Then they made everyone dance with the songs ‘Duniya Sundi Ai..’, ‘Shudayan Karta..’, ‘Do Tara Vajda Ve..’, ‘Aa Jaa Bhoj Nachiye..’, ‘Pind Daya Mundean Di..’. This team brought the musical evening to a climax by performing the songs. The stage was conducted by Research Officer Dr. Sukhdarshan Singh Chahal. Director Languages Punjab S. Jaswant Singh Zafar honored the guests with departmental shawls and sets of books. Manager of the host university Zorawar Singh and Assistant Director Amarinder Singh thanked everyone. On this occasion, Language Officers of various districts Dr. Ajitpal Singh Jatana Moga, Manjit Puri Faridkot and Dr. Sandeep Sharma Ludhiana, Prin. Rajesh Mohan Faridkot, Shiromani Kavi Darshan Buttar and Balwinder Sandhu, Research Officer Dr. Santokh Singh, Dr. Sukhdarshan Singh Chahal, Dr. Delegates and writers including Manjinder Singh and Harpreet Singh, writer Kumar Jagdev Singh Brar were present.
