Launching a sharp attack on the BJP-led Central Government over the 48-hour long Enforcement Directorate (ED) raid at the residence of Moga MLA Dr. Amandeep Kaur Arora, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) pointed out the BJP is brazenly misusing central investigative agencies to intimidate elected representatives and force them to switch political allegiance. Senior AAP leader and Punjab Prabhari Manish Sisodia asserted that despite finding nothing during the searches, ED personnel remained at the MLA’s residence for 48 hours and repeatedly pressured her to join the BJP with promises of a ministerial berth.
Condemning the BJP’s politics of intimidation, inducement and political coercion, Cabinet Ministers Harpal Singh Cheema, Dr. Baljit Kaur, Harbhajan Singh ETO and Hardeep Singh Mundian declared that neither prolonged raids nor offers of powerful positions could shake Dr. Amandeep Kaur Arora’s resolve. The AAP leaders asserted that the BJP, unable to politically challenge the mandate of the people, was resorting to investigative agencies to target its opponents, but warned that Punjab’s daughters could neither be silenced through threats nor bought with promises of political power.
On this, senior AAP leader and Punjab Prabhari Manish Sisodia stated: “For 48 hours, a woman MLA, her family and even her young children were held captive inside their own home. Nothing was recovered, yet she was told nearly 50 times, ‘Join the BJP, you will become a minister. This intimidation was carried out not only at the residence of Dr. Amandeep Kaur Arora, President of AAP’s Punjab Women’s Wing and our MLA from Moga, but also at the homes of seven of her relatives. Even her elderly maternal uncle and aunt were harassed at their residence. Searches were conducted at the hospital, in the village and at other locations, but nothing was found anywhere.”
The AAP Punjab Prabhari stated, “At Dr. Amandeep Kaur Arora’s own residence, the search was completed within two to three hours. When nothing was recovered, the people sent by the BJP simply remained seated inside her home, wasting time. This continued for 48 hours. Throughout these 48 hours, Dr. Amandeep Kaur Arora was repeatedly told, ‘Join the BJP. You will become a minister there. What is there for you in AAP? Had the ED gone there to conduct an investigation or to force an elected woman MLA to join the BJP?”
Senior AAP leader and Cabinet Minister Harpal Singh Cheema stated: “The 48-hour-long ED raid at the residence of Moga MLA and AAP candidate Dr. Amandeep Kaur Arora yielded nothing. During the raid, repeated attempts were made to lure her into joining the BJP with promises of senior positions, but our MLA stood firm on her principles and integrity. No AAP leader will ever bow before the BJP’s politics of intimidation, inducement and pressure. Our fight for truth and principles will continue with unwavering determination.”
Cabinet Minister Dr. Baljit Kaur stated, “Even after a 48-hour-long ED raid, the BJP’s attempts failed. Our MLA from Moga and my sister, Dr. Amandeep Kaur Arora, was subjected to intimidation and pressure, while also being offered senior positions to join the BJP. However, she stood firm on her principles and refused to compromise her conscience. The BJP-led Central Government must understand that the daughters of Punjab can neither be intimidated by threats nor bought with promises of powerful positions. We stand firmly with our sister. Our fight for Punjab’s rights and the mandate of the people will continue with unwavering determination.”
Cabinet Minister Harbhajan Singh ETO stated, “When political opponents find no way to take on a government elected by the people, they resort to using investigative agencies. The 48-hour-long ED raid at the residence of Moga MLA Dr. Amandeep Kaur Arora yielded nothing. Despite the BJP’s inducements and pressure, our MLA stood firm and refused to budge. This is what politics based on principles stands for.”
Cabinet Minister Hardeep Singh Mundian said, “Neither the 48-hour-long raid nor the promises of senior positions could shake Dr. Amandeep Kaur Arora’s resolve. Despite the BJP’s attempts, she remained steadfast in her principles. The politics of intimidation in the name of investigation and offering political inducements will never succeed. AAP leaders remain committed to the trust of the people and their principles.”
