Independence Day Celebrations at Desh Bhagat University Campus
Mandi Gobindgarh, 16 August 2025: Desh Bhagat University (DBU) celebrated the 79th Independence Day of India with immense patriotic fervor and enthusiasm at its campus. The event commenced with the ceremonial hoisting of the National Flag by the esteemed leadership of DBU, including Chancellor Dr. Zora Singh, Pro-Chancellor Dr. Tajinder Kaur, Vice Chancellor Dr. Harsh Sadawarti, Registrar Dr. Surinder Kapoor, and Pro-Vice Chancellor (Academics) Dr. Amarjit Singh. The ceremony was attended by numerous dignitaries, faculty members, staff, and students.
The university reaffirmed its commitment to academic excellence, innovation in research, and social responsibility. The Independence Day celebration was lauded by attendees as an enriching experience for students – providing both career inspiration and strong social messaging. A special tribute was paid to freedom fighter Sardar Lal Singh, and the Tricolor was proudly hoisted by Chancellor Dr. Zora Singh. A colorful parade featuring all three wings of the National Cadet Corps (NCC) lead by Dr Ajaypal Shekhawat added a spirited dimension to the celebration.
Simultaneously, Desh Bhagat University took part in a grand Independence Day function organized by the Punjab government at Amloh, held under the theme “Yudh Nashian Virudh.” The event spotlighted the state’s achievements in technology, innovation, healthcare, and cultural diversity through vibrant tableaus and exhibits. The event drew a large gathering and was widely appreciated for its educational and unifying message.
A special highlight of the Amloh celebration was the participation of international students from DBU, who performed a traditional Bhangra dance – infusing the event with cultural richness and global spirit.
On this occasion SDM Amloh Mr. Chetan Bangar and Mr. Gurinder Singh Garry Warring, MLA Amloh, honored (Prof) Dr. Prabhjot Singh Deputy Director Nursing, Dr. Khushboo Bansal and Satyam Kumar of DBU for their notable contributions to the fields of education, healthcare, and social service. They also expressed heartfelt appreciation for the dedication of DBU students and staff in curating compelling tableaus and performances that brought the event to life. A colorful parade featuring all three wings of the National Cadet Corps (NCC) lead by Sub Lt. Chamanpreet Kaur added a spirited dimension to the celebration.
