Special Lecture on Shaheedi Purab Organised at Desh Bhagat University
Mandi Gobindgarh, December 24:Desh Bhagat University organised a solemn and inspiring Special Lecture dedicated to the Shaheedi Purab of Sahibzada Baba Zorawar Singh Ji, Sahibzada Baba Fateh Singh Ji and Mata Gujri Ji. The programme paid heartfelt tributes to the supreme sacrifices of the younger Sahibzadas and Mata Gujri Ji, reflecting their eternal message of courage, unwavering faith and righteousness.
The gathering was led by Dr. Zora Singh, Hon’ble Chancellor, Desh Bhagat University and Dr. Tajinder Kaur, Pro-Chancellor, DBU. The event was further enriched by the presence of distinguished Special Guests including S. Amritpal Singh Dardi, Director, Chardikla Time TV, S. Harpreet Singh, Managing Director, Chardikla Time TV, S. Mohinder Singh, President, Gurudwara Mastuana Sahib, Surrey and S. Parulpreet Singh, Film Director, Hoka TV. Senior university officials, faculty members and students were also present.
The programme commenced with a formal welcome address by Prof. Amarjit Singh, Pro-Vice-Chancellor, DBU, who highlighted the historical significance of the Shaheedi Purab. A thought-provoking documentary on Shaheedi Jod Mel by Hoka TV was screened, vividly portraying the unparalleled sacrifices and enduring legacy of the Sahibzadas and Mata Gujri Ji.
The Guests and other distinguished speakers addressed the gathering and shared profound insights into Sikh history, underscoring the timeless values of bravery, sacrifice and steadfast faith. They emphasized the relevance of these teachings in today’s society, especially for the younger generation.
As a mark of respect and gratitude, the dignitaries were felicitated by the Hon’ble Chancellor Dr Zora Singh and Dr Tajinder Kaur Pro-Chancellor. Dr. Surjeet Kaur Patheja, Director Performing Arts and Media also present on the occasion. The programme was efficiently conducted by Prof. Dharminder Singh and vote of thanks by Prof. Ram Singh Gurna, Faculty of Social Sciences and Languages, marking a meaningful and inspiring observance of the Shaheedi Purab.
