Desh Bhagat University Signs MoU with Bangladesh Institutions, Hosts Lecture on South Asian Literature Evolution
Mandi Gobindgarh, April 9: The Faculty of Social Sciences and Languages at Desh Bhagat University successfully organized a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signing ceremony with Dhaka International University and Bangladesh Center for Research and Planning. This was followed by an expert lecture on “From Tradition to Transformation: The Rise of Modern Literature in South Asia.”
The event kicked off at the Chancellor Secretariat with a formal welcome for delegates from the Bangladeshi institutions. Chancellor Dr. Zora Singh and Pro-Chancellor Dr. Tajinder Kaur of DBU signed the MoU in the presence of Vice Chancellor Dr. Harsh Sadawarti and Pro-Vice-Chancellor Professor Amarjit Singh.
The group then moved to the Faculty for the academic session, which began with a welcome address by Dr. Renu Sharma, Incharge of the Faculty. Professor Amarjit Singh congratulated attendees, stressing the value of international collaborations and interdisciplinary learning.
Prof. Shah Alam Chowdhary, Department of English, Student Welfare Adviser, and Additional Registrar at Dhaka International University, delivered the keynote lecture. He traced South Asian literature’s shift from traditional roots to modern global relevance.
Professor Dharminder Singh proposed the Vote of Thanks, followed by the National Anthem. Dignitaries enjoyed lunch at Vyanjan afterward.
This event strengthens academic ties and cultural exchange, underscoring Desh Bhagat University’s dedication to global scholarship.
