Under the ongoing 24×7 Drinking Water Supply Project in Patiala, the Punjab Water Supply and Sewerage Division No. 1 will undertake the laying and crossing work of a 1200 mm water supply pipeline on the Nature Park–Thapar University–Jail Road stretch from May 23 to May 30, 2026.
Providing the Information Executive Engineer Vikas Dhawan said that the project is part of the major surface water supply scheme being implemented under AMRUT to strengthen drinking water infrastructure in Patiala city. The work includes the construction of a 115 MLD Treatment Plant, UGSR, OHSR, laying of main and branch pipelines, household connections, water meters and allied works along with operation and maintenance facilities.
XEN informed that the area near Thapar University and Bhadson Road remains heavily congested and excavation work during pipeline laying may cause temporary traffic disruption. In this regard, the Water Supply and Sewerage Department has requested the Traffic Police, Patiala, to provide necessary support for smooth traffic management during the execution of the work.
Residents and commuters have been appealed to cooperate with the administration and use alternate routes wherever required during the construction period.
