Punjab News: Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University Signs MoU with Shalley Nursing Home, Sirhind
Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University, Fatehgarh Sahib has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Shalley Nursing Home, Sirhind, to strengthen academic, clinical training, and research collaboration in Physiotherapy and Allied Health Sciences. The MoU was formally signed by Dr. G.K. Shalley, Director, Shalley Nursing Home, and Prof. (Dr.) Prit Pal Singh, Vice-Chancellor of the University.
Prof. (Dr.) Prit Pal Singh shared that this strategic partnership aims to provide high-quality clinical exposure and hands-on training to students of the Department of Physiotherapy under the Faculty of Allied and Health-Care Sciences. It will bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and real-world clinical practice through structured clinical postings, bedside teaching, patient assessment training, case discussions, evidence-based practice sessions, workshops, and supervised learning.
Shalley Nursing Home, a reputed multi-speciality healthcare institution established in 1972, is known for delivering affordable and quality healthcare services. The hospital offers advanced facilities in Orthopaedics, General Surgery, Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Paediatrics with NICU/PICU, ENT, Critical Care, Emergency Services, Physiotherapy, and Nutrition & Dietetics.
Under this collaboration, the University’s Physiotherapy students will gain valuable practical experience across various clinical departments. The partnership will also facilitate joint research projects, faculty development programmes, seminars, and workshops in the fields of physiotherapy, rehabilitation, and allied health sciences.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Pankajpreet Singh, Dean, Faculty of Allied and Health-Care Sciences, said that the collaboration will significantly enhance practical learning and equip students with essential clinical skills for professional excellence.
Dr. Supreet Bindra, Head, Department of Physiotherapy, added that the MoU will strengthen students’ clinical competencies, patient assessment capabilities, and understanding of evidence-based physiotherapy practices through multidisciplinary exposure.
Prof. Dr. Sukhwinder Singh Billing, Dean Academic Affairs, and Prof. Dr. Tejbir Singh, Registrar, also welcomed the partnership, stating that such collaborations are vital for promoting experiential learning and enhancing the professional readiness of healthcare students.
