Patiala News: MBS Punjab Sports University Takes Major Initiative to Strengthen Sports Education & Athlete Development in Punjab
-Vice Chancellor Dr. Pushpinder Singh Gill holds interaction meeting with District Sports Officers
In a significant initiative aimed at strengthening the sports ecosystem in Punjab, Maharaja Bhupinder Singh Punjab Sports University organised a landmark interaction meeting with District Sports Officers of the Punjab Sports Department under the chairmanship of Vice Chancellor Dr. Pushpinder Singh Gill.
The meeting was attended by Harpreet Singh Sudan along with 23 District Sports Officers from across the state online, while senior university officials participated physically at the university campus.
Addressing the meeting, Dr. Gill said that a major focus of the interaction was to spread awareness among aspiring sportspersons regarding the academic programmes, eligibility criteria and admission procedures of the University and its constituent colleges so that talented athletes do not miss opportunities to pursue quality education alongside their sporting careers.
The Vice Chancellor said that detailed deliberations were also held on the revival of Sports Wings in colleges, strengthening inter-college tournaments, ensuring fair and transparent conduct of AIU competitions, counselling talented sportspersons for admissions, organising training programmes for village gym instructors and introducing specialised sports industry-oriented courses linked with employment opportunities.
Dr. Pushpinder Singh Gill further informed that a dedicated communication mechanism between the University and District Sports Officers was also finalised for regular sharing of admission information, prospectus and outreach material among athletes across Punjab.
He said that all agenda points were unanimously adopted for further necessary action, reflecting a shared commitment towards strengthening Punjab’s sporting culture and creating a stronger support system for athletes across the state.
