
The Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law (RGNUL), Punjab, Patiala, will organize a National Conference titled “Yudh Nashian Virudh – The War Against Drugs” on August 1, 2026. The conference will be graced by the Hon’ble Governor of Punjab, Gulab Chand Kataria, and the Hon’ble Governor of Haryana, Ashim Kumar Ghosh, as the chief dignitaries.
Sharing this information with the media here today, Prof. (Dr.) Pushpinder Singh Gill, Vice Chancellor, Maharaja Bhupinder Singh Punjab Sports University, Patiala, said that the conference is being organized in collaboration with Maharaja Bhupinder Singh Punjab Sports University, Patiala; Jagat Guru Nanak Dev Punjab State Open University, Patiala; and Punjabi University, Patiala.
He was accompanied by Dr. Jasleen Kewlani, Organizing Secretary of the Conference; Professor (Dr.) Naresh Kumar Vats, Dean (Academics), Professor (Dr.) Kamaljit Kaur, Dean (Research), RGNUL, along with members of the Organizing Committee and faculty of RGNUL.
VC Prof. Gill said that the conference aims to deliberate on the growing challenge of drug abuse and explore a comprehensive strategy involving educational institutions, legal awareness, sports, rehabilitation, and community participation. He highlighted the proactive leadership and commitment of Hon’ble Governor Shri Gulab Chand Kataria in spearheading the campaign against drug abuse in Punjab.
He further emphasized the crucial role of Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) in creating awareness among youth, promoting preventive education, encouraging research, and supporting de-addiction and rehabilitation initiatives. He also underlined the importance of sports in steering young people away from substance abuse, the role of legal education in promoting awareness and accountability, and the collective responsibility of educational institutions, civil society, government agencies, and local communities in making Punjab a drug-free, healthy, and prosperous state.
