Patiala News:Raksha Bandhan celebrated in an emotional and family-oriented atmosphere at Central Jail Patiala

Raksha Bandhan was celebrated at Central Jail Patiala today in an emotional and family-oriented atmosphere. In accordance with the directions of the Punjab Government, the Jail Department made special meeting arrangements for the sisters and family members of inmates, allowing sisters to tie Rakhis on their brothers’ wrists and share the festive joy.
Jail Superintendent Gurcharan Singh Dhaliwal said that the special arrangements were made on the directions of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, Jail Minister Dr. Ravjot Singh and Additional DGP Prisons R. K. Jaiswal. He said that as tying Rakhis is not possible during regular meetings, a special meeting facility was arranged to enable inmates and their sisters to celebrate the festival together.
He said that, keeping security arrangements in view, the Jail Administration also made special arrangements for Rakhis and sweets for the visiting sisters. The initiative aimed at keeping inmates connected with their families while strengthening family bonds, social harmony and the spirit of brotherhood.
Gurcharan Singh Dhaliwal said that around 600 Rakhis were tied at the Central Jail today. He added that besides the sisters of male inmates, women inmates were also given a special opportunity to have Rakhis tied by their brothers. The special meetings commenced at 8 am, and no family member was deprived of the opportunity to meet their loved ones.
Additional Superintendents Arpanjot Singh and Jaideep Singh, Deputy Superintendent Adarshpal Singh, Assistant Superintendent Gurjinder Singh and other jail officials and staff were also present on the occasion.
