Patiala News:Sisters tie Rakhis at Rajindra Hospital’s Model De-addiction Centre, urge brothers to stay away from drugs

Sisters and representatives of social organisations tied Rakhis on the wrists of around 50 persons undergoing treatment at the Model De-addiction Centre of Government Rajindra Hospital, Patiala, and conveyed the message of staying away from drugs and embracing a drug-free life.
Persons who have successfully overcome drug addiction under the ‘Yudh Nashian Virudh’ campaign, popularly referred to as ‘Suroormas’, also visited the centre and shared their experiences with patients, motivating them to overcome addiction.
Nasha Mukti Morcha leader Yadvinder Singh Sandhu Goldy, Morcha In-charge, Patiala Rural, and representatives of Sarv Prem NGO also urged the patients to stay away from drugs and take a pledge against drug abuse on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan. Goldy Sandhu Laden said the ‘Yudh Nashian Virudh’ campaign was yielding encouraging results.
Head of the Department of Psychiatry at Rajindra Hospital, Dr Rajneesh Raj, and In-charge of the Model De-addiction Centre, Dr Rohit Garg, sensitised the patients about the harmful effects of drugs and shared useful tips for successful treatment and rehabilitation.
Dr Rajneesh Raj said that around 800 persons had so far been successfully treated at the Model De-addiction Centre under the ‘Yudh Nashian Virudh’ campaign, being carried out as per the directions of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann under the leadership of Health and Medical Education Minister Dr Balbir Singh.
Dr Rohit Garg said a Methadone Maintenance Treatment Clinic was also being run by the Department of Psychiatry, where medicines for de-addiction are provided free of cost to around 10 patients every day. Dr Aditi Bansal was also present on the occasion.
The patients undergoing treatment said that they had fallen into drug addiction due to bad company, but the treatment being provided under the Punjab Government’s campaign had given them hope of recovery. They expressed their determination to quit drugs completely, return to the mainstream of society and become ‘Suroormas’ themselves.
