Dr. Balbir Singh sensitizes people to put garbage in dustbins and reduce the use of plastic
“Mission Clean Punjab” campaign continues in Patiala for the third consecutive day
Under the “Mission Clean Punjab” campaign launched by the Punjab Government with the aim of making the state clean and pollution-free, Punjab Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr. Balbir Singh today led the cleanliness drive near Gurdwara Sri Dukh Nivaran Sahib in Patiala for the third consecutive day. He sensitized people to put garbage in dustbins and reduce the use of plastic. On this occasion, Deputy Commissioner Dr. Himanshu Aggarwal, Mayor of Municipal Corporation Kundan Gogia and Additional Commissioner Municipal Corporation Simarpreet Kaur were also present with him.
During the cleanliness drive, Dr. Balbir Singh himself participated in the cleaning activities and motivated people to maintain cleanliness in their surroundings. He said that a clean environment is very important for a healthy life and every citizen should contribute to cleanliness instead of considering it only the responsibility of government departments.
The Health Minister appealed to the people to put garbage only in designated dustbins instead of throwing it on roads, public places and in the open. He said that every citizen can play an important role in protecting the environment from pollution by reducing the use of plastic.
He said that the objective of Mission Clean Punjab is not only to carry out cleanliness activities, but also to create awareness among people about cleanliness and environmental conservation. He said that the goal of making Punjab clean, beautiful and pollution-free can be achieved only with the active participation of the people.
During this campaign, students of Shivalik Public School also participated with full zeal and enthusiasm. With the aim of making the younger generation aware of the environment and cleanliness, the students also conveyed the message to people to keep their surroundings clean and abandon single-use plastic. Appreciating the enthusiasm of the students, the ministers and officials said that when children and youth join a campaign for social change, the mission takes the form of a major public movement.
On this occasion, Improvement Trust Chairman Harpal Virk, Senior Deputy Mayor Harinder Kohli, Deputy Mayor Jagdeep Singh Jagga, officials and employees of the Municipal Corporation and other departments were also present.
