Information provided to farmers regarding stubble management in various villages of Nabha block
Under the guidelines of the Agriculture Officer Patiala and the leadership of the Block Agriculture Officer Nabha, village level camps are being continuously organized in the villages of Abhaypur, Babarpur, Tohra, Ghamroda, Hiana Khurd, Fatehpur etc. of the Nabha block to prevent burning of paddy stubble and its proper management.
During the camps, the Agriculture Department, Nabha, informed the farmers that burning stubble not only pollutes the environment, but also kills friendly insects of the soil and has a negative impact on the fertility of the land. The smoke generated from burning stubble can cause respiratory diseases, eye irritation and many other health problems.
During the camp, farmers were given information about the use of modern agricultural machinery like Super Seeder, Happy Seeder, Surface Seeder, Smart Seeder and Baler etc. for proper management of stubble. Agricultural experts said that mixing stubble with the soil increases the amount of organic matter in the soil, which improves the quality of the land and also increases the yield of the next crop.
On this occasion, farmers were also made aware about the subsidy being given by the department on agricultural machinery and other government schemes. The representatives of the department appealed to the farmers not to burn stubble and to implement the message of ‘zero burning’ to protect the environment and the future of future generations.
At the end of the camp, all the farmers assured to not burn stubble and to extend their full cooperation in keeping the environment clean.
